The film Into the Wild is the few movies in which I read the book first (it could be the only movie, as my memory does not serve me well right now). I might get around to a longer rant/analysis about film adaptations of books on either this blog or another.

I also read the Into the Wild book way before the movie ever came out,
I think the movie adaptation did justice to the story.
They picked the most important moments and portrayed them well.
