NBC to Premiere "MILF Island"

The season premiere of NBC's 30 Rock is as reflexive as it gets. You probably already know the premise of the show: The comings and goings of a fictional NBC sketch comedy show within a fictionalized version of NBC.

For the season premiere, hilarity ensues when Alec Baldwin's character, an NBC executive, inserts "computer generated" renderings of Jerry Seinfeld without Seinfeld's knowledge and permission. Oh yeah, and a reality show called MILF Island also figures into the episode.

Anyhow, here is a list of relevant observations, a la Jerry Seinfeld:

1. What's the deal with Alec Baldwin playing Alec Baldwin-esque characters? Because, y'know, it totally works! It's like Charlie Sheen playing Charlie Sheen-like characters...hilarious! Nicolas Cage playing a long succession Nicolas Cage-ish characters, on the other hand...

2. What's the deal with Nintendo Wii product placement/name dropping everywhere on TV? I mean, come on! It's barely anywhere to be found in the real world, but on TV...

3. What's the deal with Jerry Seinfeld's Bee Movie? A commercial for it aired during the show...AND...one or two scenes during the show itself were basically advertising for the movie. I think somebody wants some extra million-dollar pocket change...

4. What's the deal with Tina Fey's American Express commercial? I mean, the plot for the commercial is the same as the plot of the show, which is probably the same as the making of that show. Could they BE more reflexive? (Okay, that was some Matthew Perry "Chandler Bing" thrown in there. Speaking of Matthew Perry, whatever happened to that reflexive drama that had the same premise as 30 Rock?)

5. Finally, what's the deal with the upcoming lineup of guest stars on 30 Rock? I mean, what is this? The Guest Star Olympics?
